So just what was Mallika Sherawat doing in Hollywood you may wonder? The Bollywood chick is in the US to promote her new horror film, 'Hisss.' We hear she's been circulating around Hollywood's hottest circles. First off she was invited as a special guest at a Wine Tasting Luncheon at the Malibu Family Wines in Malibu, California. The event was a celebrity luncheon auction as a part of a fundraiser hosted by the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. A day with Mallika Sherawat where you would get to see her do a professional photo shoot and even get your picture taken with the Bollywood starlet went for $1,400 USD. The funds will go towards the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, which is a non-profit organization for a greater appreciation of Indian culture and cinema. Quite a good cause!

The International spotlight is on Katrina Kaif and Freida Pinto. These prominent beauties have swept up two major international campaigns. Katrina Kaif is excited to work with Matel as the new face of Barbie. Freida Pinto, who has already taken strides to global stardom, will take her strut from the runway to the big screen on to Estee Lauder's new campaign.

Matel has been looking to India to further globalize the iconic Barbie. Before Katrina Kaif agreed to the deal, Matel asked Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Genelia D'Souza. The Barbie doll, which turned 50 on March 23rd has featured the likeness of other international celebrity faces including Diana Ross, Cher, and Beyonce.

Freida Pinto is now Bollywood's highest paid actress in history, reportedly drawing in a £200,000 for the Estee Lauder campaign. In the past the campaign has featured Liz Hurley and currently has Gwyneth Paltrow on board. It has been rumored that Gwyneth Paltrow is worried about being pushed to the side by up and coming Bollywood actress Freida Pinto.

This is the fourth time that an international cosmetic brand has promoted an Indian actress. Previous Indian actresses featured have been Diana Hayden for L'Oreal Paris, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also for L'Oreal Paris, and Ujjwala Raut for YSL. Freida Pinto 's management wants her to be a global star, it looks like she's doing a pretty good job. She's been seen on glamorous magazine covers like Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Maxim and there is hype that she may be the next Bond girl.

After being a presenter at the Golden Globes, Shahrukh Khan has set his eyes on the prize. He
has decided that it's time to get serious and now one of the biggest and well recognized actors
in Bollywood is going for the gold, Academy Awards gold that is.

Shahrukh Khan wants to go into what he calls "serious cinema," which will give him an
opportunity to take part in an award winning performance. Shahrukh Khan was offered a role in
the Oscar winner 'Slumdog Millionaire,' but at the time refused. It probably didn't give him
much pleasure to see that the film won big at just about all of the award ceremonies, since he
could've been a part of that international fame. That's why he's not passing up any more
chances at Oscar gold.

His close friend Preity Zinta told Shahrukh Khan that she'll be teaming up with Indian/ Canadian
filmmaker Deepa Mehta for her next film. This made Shahrukh Khan want an introduction by
Preity Zinta to the critically acclaimed director on their trip to South Africa for the IPL.

Shahrukh Khan undoubtedly hopes that this will bring him closer to Oscar worthy recognition.
But will it all be enough? Shahrukh Khan is no doubt an accomplished actor, but is he really
Oscar worthy? Will this meeting with Deepa Mehta be the right thing to get his career geared

Maybe it really was just a misunderstanding after all.

The father of "Slumdog Millionaire" child actress Rubina Ali was cleared today by Indian police on charges that he was allegedly about to sell his daughter to a Middle Eastern sheikh just a few days ago. Police are citing insufficient evidence to move forward with a possible case against Rafiq Qureshi.

"So far there is no evidence of any offense, hence there is no registration of complaint and no arrest," Nisar Tamboli, a senior police officer, informed Reuters.

The fallout from this incident has been heavy and severe for a country that is struggling with trying to stop child trafficking. Just yesterday, Kurshida Davade, Rubina Ali's biological mother, fought Ali's stepmother Munni Qureshi on the streets of Mumbai while Ali's father was trying to clear his name. His entire defense was that the Middle Eastern sheikh, who was really a journalist in disguise, was "playing tricks on him" while reportedly led to a negotiation of what the price would be for Rubina. The price went to as high as $300,000 in an attempt to better his life.

As far as Rubina Ali is concerned, her future will be in good hands. There is a trust fund set up for her and co-star Azharuddin Mohammed. The Jai Ho Trust Fund, which is supported by "Slumdog Millionaire" director Danny Boyle and producer Christian Colson have issued fund that requires that a social worker check up on her to make sure she is okay, a lump sum for her to have once she turns 18, and the reassurance that her living and education costs are taken care of. While this alleged sale deserves scrutiny and media attention, the Jai Ho Trust fund wants people to remember that little Rubina Ali is only nine years old. A statement from them reads: "The Jai Ho Trust requests the media consider the possible negative impacts of the recent media scrutiny on 9-year-old Rubina, and assist in protecting her interests through sensitive reporting to limit further unnecessary exploitation of her rights and interests."

Something about all of this is a bit fishy. I think in a case like this, it should take more than just a couple of days to probe and figure out whether this situation is worthy of charges and a subsequent trial. It just seems like people want to nip this in the bud and move on.

It's pretty hard to not agree with the fact that Hrithik Roshan is one of, if not the hottest dancers in Bollywood. The way he can move and mold his body, it's as if he were a professional dancer and not an actor. In his upcoming film, 'Kites,' Hrithik plays a guy taking dance lessons from a hot Latin teacher played by Barbara Mori. The film is said to have some steamy love scenes as well as sexy dance numbers that suit Hrithik to a T! The film also stars Kangana Ranaut.

Since the film is based on dance, Hrithik suggested American choreographer, Flexy Stu to his father and the film's producer, Rakesh Roshan. Flexy has choreographed commercials and various pieces in the past for Hrithik and thus the actor wanted to work with the dancer once again for a full length film. However, the buzz is that Hrithik wasn't happy with the dance pieces Flexy and his assistant put together and suggested changes which Flexy wasn't willing to comply with. Thus reports are saying Flexy was let go and Hrithik decided to choreograph the dance sequences himself! Yet, Hrithik, Flexy, Kangana and Hrithik's father have all been mum on the matter.

However, judging from the video footage below of Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut learning dance steps from Flexy, the rumors may not be true, especially since Hrithik gives Flexy a profanity-laced shout out at the end in favor of Flexy. Hmm... doesn't sound like Hrithik has distaste for his dance moves to us! In fact, the videos were posted by Flexy's official YouTube channel! Yet, they were posted in February, so there is a chance that Flexy has since been let go from the project.

After starting her film career in 'Rock On' with Farhan Akhtar, 20-year-old actress Prachi Desai claimed that she's never been kissed before on screen. She said that if she were to get a smooch from somebody, it would be from actor Ranbir Kapoor.

Why did she choose Ranbir? Well, Prachi admits to having a 'big crush' on the handsome actor.

Prachi, who is shooting for 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai' with Emraan Hashmi, said that she will not kiss the 'serial kisser' in the film, instead she will try to get the script changed if the movie demands her to kiss him. She still has inhibitions in kissing on screen, but if the man is Ranbir Kapoor she would "definitely think about it".

Sarcastically, the love-struck fan of Ranbir hasn't met him in person yet. So when her friend and mentor Ekta Kapoor told her that she knows Ranbir, Prachi was swift to ask her to organize a meeting with him.

Prachi thinks Ranbir is "too charming" and "good looking" but at the same time she's "not jealous" of his girlfriend actress Deepika Padukone at all. It seems like Bollywood is always ripping off Hollywood film ideas. Whether it's a small subplot or the entire thing-there are always elements from films that seem to be eerily similar to their Hollywood counterparts. Well Kajol and Kareena Kapoor have been casted in a Bollywood film whose rights have officially been bought from the original American film. Director Karan Johar has reportedly bought the rights to the Hollywood movie 'Stepmom' which starred Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts. The movie follows the life of one woman who marries a man with children and must deal with the ex-wife who is very much a part of the kids' lives.

It is reported that Karan Johar will being filming the 'Stepmom' remake after he is done with 'My Name is Khan'. The movie will be directed by Siddharth Malhotra. The film is also going to bring Kajol and Kareena Kapoor back together for a second time since their work on 2001's 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'.

Examples of Bollywood films that have been straight up copies or very comparable to Hollywood movies include, 'Meri Yaar Ki Shaadi' ('My Best Friend's Wedding'), 'Ghajini' ('Memento'), 'Raaz' ('Ring 1' and 'Ring 2'). The Indian public accepted these films, will they do the same for the Bollywood remake of "Stepmom"? I guess we will just have to wait to find out.

Just when you think you've seen everything, the impossible (and probably painful) gets done on some reality TV show. Recently on "Britain's Got Talent" another one of Simon Cowell's shows, a 59 year old Security Consultant by the name of Manjit Singh wowed the judges. Two of his physical feats of wonderment include blowing up a hot water bottle till it explodes and pulling a minivan with his ear. This was from the audition phase of "Britain's Got Talent," but Manjit Singh managed to get past the auditions.

To add to his accomplishment of pulling a minivan; Manjit Singh was also in a documentary about his journey and the many acts he performed that earned him the international title of "Iron Lion." He also awarded the Guinness world record for his tremendous strength, endurance and will power to pull vehicles with small parts of his body like his ears and lungs.

What he's going to do to eclipse this performance I don't know, but I can't wait to find out. After watching his audition Manjit Singh is the last guy I would want to fire from my office. This may be old news, but just in case you didn't see it yet here it is again. I'm pretty sure I should put up a "don't try this at home kids" disclaimer, but there's a good chance you'll do it anyway. So don't sue us when you lose an ear.

We can't tell if Ranbir Kapoor is selling an IBM computer from 1989 or if he's actually in an ad for a Panasonic circa 2009. The Bollywood actor who has been linked to some of the sexiest women around including Deepika Padukone had to go nerdy for the new ad with Panasonic.

Well Ranbir only had good things to say about his work with Panasonic "Being associated with the Panasonic family is definitely a big honor for me and also a big responsibility knowing that it's such a global plan...marketing such a big product...it gives me such great privilege and honor just to be associated with the family of Panasonic".

The commercial features two Ranbir Kapoor's-a cool one and the geeky, and they're neighbors. In the end both get the girls, of course all thanks to Panasonic. The company probably had to pay Ranbir Kapoor big bucks to get him to play the role of two different characters, but the actor didn't seem to mind and looked surprisingly comfortable in both roles.

The fact that Hollywood has a growing obsession with Bollywood can be seen in films like, 'Slumdog Millionaire' and the recent crop up of Bollywood dance numbers on television shows in the US. Let's not forget Britney Spears' Bollywood dance number in her Circus tour. Now it seems Hollywood is also recognizing the immense talent that some of our Bollywood actors hold as well! The latest star to bag a Hollywood project is light-eyed cutie, Shiney Ahuja!

It may be a bit surprising as Shiney isn't really a considered a 'big' actor. He doesn't have the international star status that Aishwariya Rai Bachchan holds, nor does he have the immense acting chops that Irrfan Khan possess. Yet, he does have a screen presence and intensity that lights up the screen, proof point in his film, 'Gangster.' And apparently it's his role in that film along with 'Haazron Khwaishein Aisi' that have helped land his first ever Hollywood movie! The film is titled, 'Silver Cord' and is directed by James Ordonez, who saw Shiney in 'Gangster' and loved his acting.

So what is the film all about? Well, 'Silver Cord' is a romantic sci-fi thriller produced by Michael Shane, Anthony Romani, who produced 'Catch Me If You Can' and Mark Canton from the film, '300.' Plus get this - Shiney will be sharing screen space with Val Kilmer, but that's all Shiney will reveal about the project as of yet.
But don't think Shiney will be playing the typical South Asian character with an accent, or a terrorist or something of that nature. In fact, Shiney will be playing a character who is American instead of South Asian! Quite ironic, as when Shiney was first starting out Bollywood producers were not interested in signing him because he was too fair and has green eyes. We can also guess that the character will be an intense one, as that's what Shiney is best at doing.

Kangana Ranaut may only be a few films old, but she's already known in Bollywood for her hard hitting, dark and tough roles. She bares no expense to giving every role she takes her all and that includes doing bold, dare to bare scenes. Reportedly Kangana is all set to go nude in an upcoming Telugu film.

The petite actress is in Hyderabad shooting for, 'Ek Niranjan,' which is directed by Puri Jagannath. According to reports, Kangana's role requires her to go naked for a scene and she doesn't want to disappoint the producers so she has agreed to do the scene without a body double! Plus it's being reported that Kangana Ranaut is getting an enormous amount for the scene.

In a way this doesn't come as a surprise, as since the beginning of her career, she's done many bold scenes and doesn't shy away from such scenes when required in the script. If you recall in her first film, 'Gangster' she was seen wrapped up in only bed sheets, then Kangana starred in 'Woh Lamhe' and that film was filled with many bold scenes. In 'Fashion' Kangana did a topless wardrobe malfunction scene on the runway, and although it was blurred out by the censor board, Kangana still shot the scene with no inhibitions. And most recently there's 'Raaz - the Mystery Continues' in which she had a sexy bedroom scene with her real life boyfriend, Adhyayan Suman as well as a bathroom scene in which she was almost nude. So from the sounds of it, this lady isn't afraid to show a little or a lot of skin when the role requires it!

'Ek Niranjan' marks Kangana Ranaut's first Telugu language film and her co-star is Prabhas. Apparently it's an all out commercial film filled with romance, action, fun and emotions. Telugu films proved to be a bit easier for Kangana Ranaut as she still struggles to speak Hindi in the correct accent. Last year she appeared in a Tamil film titled, 'Dhaam Dhoom.'

"Rakhi Sawant, will you marry me?" Those were the exact thoughts of 12,5150 red blooded men out there. Hindi host turned actress Rakhi Sawant is getting thousands of proposals from men looking to be Mr. Right for her. That's because she's about to have a reality show where she gets to narrow down the choices in front of everyone, the show is aptly titled, "Rakhi Ka Swayamwar." Think of "The Bachelor," "Flavor of Love" and all of the other reality dating shows that seem to dominate television programming everywhere.

Rakhi Sawant, for one, is stunned at the response. "I want to thank everybody for their continued support," Sawant said. This huge response has proved to everybody that my 'swayamvara' and 'shaadi' (wedding) is not a joke. My only wish is to find a person who will always be my support system and will respect me for what I am."

For those who are unaware of what swayamvara is, the girl's father has her swayamvara at a venue at a random time and lets everyone know that his daughter is available. On that predetermined day, men arrive at the girl's home and ask for her hand in marriage. The girl and her family get to choose among the suitors, sometimes through evaluating the completion of various tasks assigned. When the girl identifies the man she wants, she chooses him and a marriage ceremony is held immediately.

Now this whole concept is a little less surprising coming from Rakhi Sawant because she's no stranger to controversy. It's still puzzling as to what drove her to think this whole thing up, well other than love of course. The show is set to premiere in the next 20 days and for the purpose of the show, the top 15 profiles chosen will battle it out to win her heart and an additional 15 minutes of fame. New Delhi alone had about 2,465 profiles from that city sent to her, with Mumbai coming in at 1,980. Hopefully Rakhi Sawant has a thing for New Delhi or Mumbai men because if not, she's got a lot of rejection letters to write to those two cities. Shilpa Shetty loves her family very much. That's why it's no surprise that on a recent trip to South Africa for the Indian Premier League, she took her sister Shamita Shetty (and of course her beau Raj Kundra) with her. Well the company enjoyed a relaxing and fun vacation away that is until Shamita Shetty's hotel room was ransacked by baboons. Yes, when we say baboon, we mean of the wild animal variety.

Shamita Shetty, Shilpa Shetty, and Raj Kundra and "close friends and family in tow" were all out on a safari in Singita Game Reserves where they were taking a break from the ongoing Indian Premier League. That's when things got bad for Shamita Shetty's hotel room at the Singita Lebombo Lodge.
Shilpa Shetty wrote in her blog "It's been a great weekend. Shamita loved every bit of it till she went to her room and discovered her room was ransacked by the baboons...apparently they knew where the mini bar is and we were warned when we checked in to keep all doors locked when we leave the room...Obviously [teasing her sister] someone didn't listen."

We're glad to hear for Shamita Shetty's sake that she wasn't in the room when the "attack" took place. Where can you see Rubina Ali from 'Slumdog Millionaire', Arjun Rampal, and Nicole Kidman in one place? A French commercial for Schweppes of course! It's not unusual to see some of the hottest actors in both Hollywood and Bollywood doing commercials for different brands all over the world. But this one was a little strange for us and we're sure that Nicole Kidman didn't want it to come out. More than likely the makers of 'Slumdog Millionaire' didn't want the news coming out either.

The commercial consists of Nicole Kidman dancing around, dressed like an Indian princess. Rubina Ali's character is seen smiling at the actress and then touching her face. Pretty weird, but it gets stranger. Nicole Kidman then makes her way to Arjun Rampal-unzipping her dress on the way. She saunters past him, closes the doors to her room, and takes a drink of Schweppes saying 'What did you expect?'.

Surprisingly this minute long commercial was directed by filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and produced by Ridley Scott. Another shock is that Rubina Ali was paid more money for the ad than she was for doing 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Her father Rafiq Ali told sources that "We are very proud of her and hope she continues to become a big star. Maybe then we will be able to live in a proper house", he also added that "The money she's receiving for doing this ad is more than the total she got for 'Slumdog'".

Vivek Oberoi may not be the star that he once used to be, but he always manages to keep his name in the news! Vivek is currently in New York filming Rensil D'Silva's untitled film that co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Diya Mirza. He also managed to get Kareena and Saif a mini break in New York before the vacation they have planned after shooting wraps in New York. He also happened to get a visit from Urban Desi's number one guy, Jay Sean!

Apparently Vivek had a number of solo scenes which he suggested to the director, be shot all in order so Saif and Kareena could take some time off. Awww... now isn't that sweet? Kareena was quoted as saying, "Yeah, Saif and I got a two-day break in the middle of our hectic schedule because vivek's scenes are being shot. Saif and I just chilled out, saw some films, and ate at our favorite restaurant. It was an unexpected treat thanks to Vivek."

The two had been rumored to not get along in the past so now it looks like Vivek Oberoi is mending bridges. Vivek also got a visit yesterday from Cash Money star, Jay Sean while he was shooting at Newark Airport in New York with Diya Mirza! Just like when her boyfriend Adhyayan Suman launched his own website a month ago, Kangana Ranaut follows his example by creating her own web and blogging site being launched next month called realkangnaranaut.com.

Besides using the website as a platform to clear rumors about her personal and professional matters, Kangana said that she plans to use it to also catch up with her family, friends and fans.

Kangana was actually not too happy with all that was written about her in the media. She wanted to take on the task of providing all the information about herself.

She will even post personal pictures of her at parties she attends with her friends and at the same time clear confusions like the one about her catfight with Priyanka Chopra.

"Like for instance, Priyanka and I had a fabulous time shooting for 'Fashion', but still there were stories of our catfights or what were not true, so I can post pictures from the set with us bonding to refute such rumors," says Kangana.

According to the sources, Kangana will connect directly to her fans through the website. She will post her day to day activities to inform her fans directly.

Kangana is prompted to establish such connect to avoid any more gossips in her life. According to sources close to the actress, Kangana is tired of giving explanations to the media. Her website will be the direct medium to connect to her fans.

After the success of most of her films like the recent horror-flick 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' and shooting for her upcoming film 'Kites', Kangana hopes that she will go where no other actress has gone before using her website as a platform.

Kangana also wants to follow stars like Lara Dutta and Kareena Kapoor who had successfully launched their own websites to be able to connect with all their fans across the globe.

Shahid Kapoor has become very cautious about Priyanka Chopra's health after she woke up from stomach infection. He has been keeping a sharp eye on her and recommended her to give up alcohol as drinking may further damage her health.

Priyanka Chopra has been an occasional drinker and she usually takes a few pegs at parties & events. Following her release from the hospital, not only have doctors put a ban on her drinking habits but Shahid Kapoor also barred her from drinking.

Sources add, "Though Priyanka Chopra cannot be called an alcoholic, she does enjoy a glass of wine or champagne occasionally that too only when she is with her closest friends. Shahid Kapoor is a strict vegetarian and also a teetotaler and it is but natural that he expects his new girl friend to be the same. It is a known fact that Shahid Kapoor had turned his ex girlfriend Kareena Kapoor vegetarian and a teetotaler like him too.

This step with Priyanka Chopra has been taken by him because he was extremely worried when she got stomach infection as there was fear of it aggravating by having alcohol".

The source also said, "It is not just alcohol, Shahid Kapoor is also wanting Priyanka to slow on work and take enough rest".

Shahid had made her quit booze and probe into yoga and meditation instead. Shahid had been bothered for quite some time about Priyanka overstressing herself. And his fears did come true with Priyanka facing serious health problems recently due to fatigue and over exertion. Shahid has advised her to take it easy and take up yoga and meditation to keep herself fit and relaxed. However, since she had allotted dates for Ashutosh Gowariker's 'What's Your Rashee?' there was no way she could back out.
