Sarkar 3 is shelved for good! RGV also confesses that his relationship with Bachchans is over

When Ram Gopal Varma started working on Sarkar, he hoped to make a trilogy, just like The Godfather. However it seems like the third part of the franchise won't happen after all.

"Sarkar 3… is shelved for sure," the director told Mumbai Mirror adding that he could not do 'justice to it' since the graph would go down with the third film.

Sarkar released with much critical acclaim and box office success in 2005. It was followed by its sequel Sarkar Raj in 2008, which received mixed response from the critics as well as the audience.

Ram Gopal Varma hoped to make the third part where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's and Amitabh Bachchan's characters would take the plot forward. However the maker says that despite having worked with his team of writers, he has not been able to come up with a script he's satisfied with.

"If you have seen The Godfather, the first part where Marlon Brando plays the head of the family is easily the most arresting of the three films," he was quoted by the paper as saying.

In an interesting confession, Ram Gopal Varma also mentioned that his 'screen relationship with the Bachchan family is over'. Further he refused to discuss 'the extent of proximity' of his relationship with the First Family of Bollywood.

Much is being speculated about the rumoured split and while none is speaking, this is perhaps one of the most candid confessions in the matter.

Varma however did assure that he would make 'something with 'the three Bachchans at some other stage in life'.

Big B’s concern for women in sports

Amitabh Bachchan is presently in London shooting for Paa. In his free time he has been exploring London and also managed to experience a few matches of the ongoing Wimbeldon. But then post his viewing experience he has expressed his concern about the disparity between men and women in sports.

”The large silver golden cup for the men… the semi gold silver tray for the ladies. A disparity here as well, apart from the difference that their prize money entails. I believe a women group is working on the equal distribution of the prize money at tournaments. But for those that continuously make themselves vocal on the disparity and make politically correct noises, let them know that this a manifestation of our age old history and tradition. It may not be feasible to adhere to the sentiment that I have expressed. But for those that scream and shout on the imbalance, that propagate equality for political gain, would they ever wish to take up this issue at all.. I would imagine not. Because… politically it may not suit them.” he writes updating his blog.

He further adds, “The charge would be that sport is an elitist occupation, certainly as far as its commercialism is concerned and there really is no space for the genuine deserving potentials.”

Bachchan feels, “Today the Indian Cricket team boasts of several members that have come up from meagre means and from areas in the country that could be specified as small town. Not too many years ago, 90% of the team would be from Bombay now Mumbai. There were facilities and schools for upcoming players. But all that has undergone a sea change. Today 90% of the team is made up of those that belong to small town India. Poor but traditional and a bit conservative. The lure of big money as the IPL’s of the world take shape, is a huge incentive for upcoming stars.”

“One has to wonder then, whether it is the love of the game, or the love of the money behind the love of the game, that attracts. Not an unreasonable argument. So if the money is an attraction for the budding talent, what is wrong in giving equal opportunity to the women of the game and procure incentive for them as well.. And while we are talking equal and incentive, it may be wise to consider at this moment why there is disparity in the reward for their game.” Big B concludes.

Bachchan Sr. has also hinted at taking a poll on this topic.

Big B’s magnificent king size suite at Macao during IIFA 2009

Amitabh Bachchan is the brand ambassador of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards and therefore well deservedly he is always allotted the best suite in the hotel that hosts the celebrity guests of the event. It is now learnt that this year it is to be no exception either.

The IIFA Awards this year are being hosted by The Venetian, Macao and just like its sister property The Venetian in Las Vegas, The Venetian Macao is also a Renaissance Venice-themed property featuring famous landmarks from Venice with over 3000 suites. The best of them all has been specially kept reserved for Mr. and Mrs. Amitabh Bachchan. It is on the seventh floor having its own private swimming pool, patio and lawn. Reportedly the suite contains three master bedrooms with each bedroom having its own steam, sauna, exercise and massage room. Interestingly, the bathroom is entirely operated by gadgets. There is a switch that ensures that the collapsible pot is opened. Then the second switch washes you after your use while the third one dries you up. And funnily, the last switch powders your backside.

When Big B made his visit to Macao earlier this month for a promotional activity, he stayed at that very same suite. He was mightily impressed by the luxurious facilities it offer him but at the same time he was overheard saying that, “It needs a golf buggy to take me from the bedroom to the bathroom. It is really far.”
